So, you survived a week at English Apart, and now it’s time to ‘go back’ to France!
What can you do to maintain your level, and all the new words you learned during the week?
We have some tips to help you remember, and use your new skills!!
Review your notes:
It is an intensive week at English Apart, so your brain is probably still full- give it a little time to absorb everything. When you feel you have recovered, look at your notes from the week:
- When you see a word, remember the teacher, the room and the context of the words learned. Use your “mind palace” to help your memory
- Try to apply the grammar rules to examples in your immediate life / context
- Listen to the recordings, review the videos that are available in the online portal
- Spend 10- 15 minutes a day listening or trying to understand some news. There are great sites like BBC learning English, BBC 1 minute news, or News in Levels to encourage you and validate what you have understood.
- Stay motivated, English is as much about the culture as the language! Go see a movie in English at the theatre, have an English evening with friends, or try to go to a language evening at a pub or community centre.
- Regular exposure, even passive (like listening to the radio) is better than nothing!
